Think I will go and "dig a shallow shaft" is what Utah miners used to say when they were getting ready to go on vacation. Think I will go and "eat at Shallow Shaft" is what I say every time I visit Utah to ski. I love food and really LOVE this restaurant. As mentioned I regularly visit Utah to ski and during every trip make it a point to eat at the Shallow Shaft and have driven an hour out of my way to dine there. The restaurant is situated in the mountains just down hill and across the street from the Alta ski area. The restaurant's interior cozy and charming as is the establishments wait staff. Everyone at this restaurant is really proud of their food and is thrilled to serve its clientele. When eating there I typically start with whatever smoked salmon appetizer they are serving (they cold smoke it themselves). Then its onto a salad so I can feel like I'm being healthy before devouring a steak or wild game meat they might be serving. Besides great food and service the restaurant has an amazing wine and beer selection. From small vineyard wines to Pilsner Urquell one of my favorite beers, you will not leave the Shallow Shaft thirsty, you will leave stuffed! Reservations are recommended
