Giddy Up! Sam LaGrassa's sandwiches are Heaven in a bun. Sam LaGrassa's tag line is "World's #1 Sandwiches", while I'm not prepared to say the best sandwich in the world, I will declare Sam LaGrassa's best sandwiches in Boston. In fact I can not even imagine what restaurant or Deli would be a close second.
Bottom line is that anything on Sam LaGrassa's menu is top notch. A couple of my favorite sandwiches include:
* Pastrami Traveler- Delicious Rumanian pastrami, Vermont cheddar cheese, tomatoes, onions and Deli mustard on pumpernickel all grilled panini style.
* Grilled Chicken and Roaster Vegetable Wrap- Fresh grilled white meat chicken, assorted grilled vegetables including eggplant, provolone cheese wrapped and then grilled for a wrap with a crunch.
Other great menu items include soup and chowder of the day. I had the white bean and spinach soup today and it was both healthy and tasty. For less healthy days, go for the freshly cooked fries, they are hot and crisp. For folks with a sweet tooth, Sam LaGrassa's does have fresh baked cookies for dessert.
Service at Sam LaGrassa's is also great. The staff moves ton of customers efficiently at lunch time. The format of the restaurant is counter service to order and pay. The staff is friendly and helpful and sandwiches are all made fresh to order.
Sandwich prices run in the $5 to $10 range. These prices really are quite good given the size and quality of the sandwich. Most folks will have trouble finishing their over sized sandwiches. Think New York deli style sandwiches where prices would be considerably higher.
Sam LaGrassa's is not only a Boston institution but also a truly great deli restaurant with Boston's best sandwiches.
