The Shiggidy Shack is amazing. I could almost rate the Shiggidy Shack a 5 based on the name alone, but then again this bar and restaurant has so much more to offer.
The Shiggidy Shack or more formally Mr. X's Shiggidy Shack is well known among locals and regular visitors to St. Kitts. The Shiggidy Shack is ideally located right on the beach in Frigate Bay. The setting offers beautiful views of Kitt's coastline and a great spot to watch the sunset while sipping/slurping or chugging your favorite beer or blender drink.
The Shiggidy Shack's atmosphere is laid-back bohemian, in a Caribbean sort of way. Basically start with a nice stretch of beach, lay out some picnic tables add a grille, beach bar and surf boards... and you have a Shiggidy Shack.
What of course really makes the formula work is the food. Some of the very best on the island. Everything is grilled perfectly and I've gladly devoured most items on the menu including:
1. Ribs
2. Chicken Breast (Best grilled chicken I've ever had)
3. Shrimp
4. Lobster (Delicious... it was BIG and grilled to perfection)
All main dishes are served with local accompaniments. I really enjoyed the beans and rice.
The service at the Shiggidy Shack is also great. Their entire staff was very helpful.
Prices were also great, 4 meals plus drinks will run you under $100 bucks... this is short money for big tasty lobster and a good buzz.
A word to the wise is to get to the Shiggidy Shack as early as possible. First, they buy as many lobster's as come in that day from local lobster-men. As such it is not uncommon for the Shiggidy Shack to run out by 7:00 PM.
Also it should be noted that every Thursday night is a big party night complete with live music, local fire eater, bon fire and more.
Seating at the Shiggidy Shack is free-for-all style. Meaning there is no wait list. Instead just fund a seat and jump in it.
Mr. X's Shiggidy Shack is a must stop for anyone visiting St. Kitts. The view, food and service are just right. Most importantly, the Shiggidy Shack is a ton of fun.
