Lets get right to it, this is some of the very best Thai food in Boston. I have eaten virtually everything on the menu and everything is outstanding, even every day appetizers like like steamed dumplings seem to have a unique and wonderful flavor.
My favorite dish is the Siamese Twins which is loaded up with crisp vegetables, pineapple, chicken, shrimp and just the right amount of chile's for kick. I would also recommend several other dishes including: Som Tum Papaya with Sticky Rice, Gaprow (very spicy), Brown Sugar Mango Curry and Duck Choo Chee. I also find their tea hot or iced to be delicious and again offers a unique flavor.
The service here is top notch at both dinner and lunch. They do a great job of turning tables during a busy lunch hour.
The decor is quite nice and is extremely clean. And of course like many Asian restaurants offers a very nice fish tank.
I suspect what really makes Similans special is that not only do they offer top notch food and service, but prices are also quite reasonable. Most well portioned dishes which come with rice will run you in the $7.00 range.
Its worth noting that Similans is owned by the same folks as the Brown Sugar restaurants found in Boston (Fenway and over by BU). The food and service at Similans is just as good and interior a bit nicer.
Do give the Similans a try.
