Abhiruchi serves typical Indian food efficiently with a good selection of appetizers, salad, entries, and desserts. I would characterize it as similar to many small Indian eateries found in larger cities like Devon Avenue in Chicago, or throughout the peninsula in the California bay area. The food isn't really outstanding, just solid good Indian food. I tried their lunch buffet one day and everything was plentiful, warm, and interesting. The check came quickly and they accommodated our party's request for separate checks.
I ate the butter chicken, which was in a good cream sauce with properly cooked chicken. Their raita was refreshing with cucumber, peppers, and perhaps a few other salad vegetables thrown in. I didn't try the nan, but other people liked it. The buffet also offered salad, ranch dressing, several vegetarian entres, and tandoori chicken in addition to many other dishes.
I miss these kinds of solid ethnic restaurants that competently serve their native cuisine efficiently and without pretension in the Portland area. This kind of restaurant is a staple eatery in more diverse large cities, but it's a much rarer find in the more mono-culture that is the Portland metro area.
I'll definitely eat here again if I'm looking for some good Indian food.
